Joám followed graduate and undergraduate studies in Journalism, Anthropology and Political Science (Peace Studies and International Security). He Lectured Media Studies at the University of Santiago de Compostela (Galiza) and was Director of the Arab and Islamic Studies Program at Menéndez Pelayo International University until shifting to the Center for Global Nonkilling, a Hawaiian-based nonprofit organization. He is also President of the Galizan Institute for International Security and Peace Studies ( http://www.igesip.org ), Editor of the "Asteriskos" journal, and founding member of the Galizan Academy of the Portuguese Language ( http://www.aglp.net ).
